GOOD AND BAD RESULTS FOR HARRAH'S TEAM AT POCONO
Long
Pond, Penn. - Larry Foyt and the Harrah's team overcame early engine
problems to finish 29th in the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway on
Sunday. Ryan Newman won the race.
On lap three of the 200 lap event, Foyt was forced to take his Harrah's
Dodge to the garage due to a shorted-out spark plug wire. Foyt returned
to the race 10 laps down, but was determined to gain valuable experience
on the tricky 2.5-mile track.
"Pocono bears a lot of resemblance to Indianapolis, where I'll be racing
at for the first time next weekend," said Foyt. "When we returned to the
race after going behind the wall, our goal was to learn as much as we
possibly could.
"We've been struggling all weekend, but about halfway through the race
the car started reacting positively to the changes we were making. I
think we picked up on some things that should really help next week at
Indy."
The 10th running of the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway can
be seen live on NBC at 2:30 p.m. EDT.

Raceway is almost long enough to land a jetliner.
• The unique triangular shape of Pocono is often
described as a combination of a superspeedway and a
road course.
• In the first Pocono race this season, Foyt finished
41st after a brake problem forced the team to retire
from the race early.
Larry Foyt on Pocono:
"The race in June was the first time I had set foot at Pocono. It's a
pretty difficult track to set the car up for because each corner is
different. The veterans definitely have an advantage there with their
experience.
"This track prepares you a little bit for the next race at Indianapolis.
Both have long straightaways and relatively flat corners."
