Foyt Looks Ahead to Homestead
Larry Foyt is looking ahead to Homestead-Miami Speedway where he
will compete in the final event of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series
driving for the BAM Racing team.
Foyt, who failed to qualify the CLR/BAM Racing Dodge at Atlanta
Motor Speedway last weekend, will test at Homestead-Miami Speedway
prior to his next NASCAR Nextel Cup attempt. "We were thrashing
again at the racetrack," said Foyt. "We all agreed that we can't
just show up and expect to get in the show. We really need to test
first."
Foyt will test at the 1.5-mile oval where he had his best start and
finish in NASCAR's premier series last year when he qualified 12th
and finished 16th driving for his father's team. For this test,
plans are in place to hire a veteran crew chief, who should be able
to jumpstart this year's effort.
"I'm glad that team owners Beth Ann and Tony [Morgenthau] understand
that we really need to get some testing in," said Foyt. "They've
come up with a plan that should give us a better shot at making the
show."
Foyt will also do some research and development testing for Evernham
Motorsports before the year is out.
