Harrah's No. 14 Monte Carlo
Notes & Quotes: NASCAR Busch Series Food City 250
On Bristol: "Having been there once before, I know the track
now so we can concentrate on the qualifying set-up. The last
time we were at Bristol, we had to take a provisional. We stayed
out of trouble in the first half of that race but we got tagged
from behind towards the end. Bristol is a race of survival. If
we stay out of trouble and finish, it will probably be a good
finish. That's what we're planning on."
On Michigan: Qualifying a career-best
fifth, Foyt ran in the top-four in the beginning of the race. As
the car's handling changed, he lost a little ground but was
still running in the top-10 when his first pit stop proved to be
the young team's downfall.
"We were excited about going to
Michigan," said Foyt. "Jon Wolfe and the guys worked hard
preparing the Harrah's Monte Carlo and David Evans found some
more power in the engine, so we found some speed at Michigan. We
were able to stay up front until the car got a little tight and
started pushing. Even with that, we stayed in the top-10 and
were looking to correct it on the next pit stop. Unfortunately,
our front tire changer had a problem and we came out of the pits
in 22nd position. We couldn't make up that much time and ended
up finishing 18th. Our Harrah's team took it to heart though and
they're working even harder during their pit stop practice this
week. I've got a great bunch of guys."
Mark Green, brother to NBS champions David and Jeff, has
been working with Larry during race weekends as a consultant.
"Mark has been really helpful to me," said Foyt. "He's a race
driver so he knows how a driver approaches things. He's been
able to shorten my learning curve and that just makes it easier
on my whole Harrah's Racing team."
Points
standing: Foyt is 22nd in the driver's points; he has earned
$300,207.
