"We ran a drop-snout car here and I hadn't really run one before. In practice, I drove into the turn too hard and the car snapped on me and I hit the wall. We pulled out the back-up car and I had a couple laps on it before I had to qualify. I qualified but the car wasn't really comfortable. I started 38th, avoided some big wrecks and survived to finish 27th."

Notes & Quotes:

On Richmond International Raceway: "We had a test scheduled here but it was cancelled because they had to put a sealer on the track. I've never seen the track before so I'll spend the first part of our two-hour practice just learning the track. Then we will start working on a qualifying set-up."

On first night race of season: "I like night races. I ran them last year when I was driving in ASA. It's not as hot at night so the car performs better, which helps the driver perform better too. And I'm not much of a morning person anyway."

On California Speedway: "I learned a lot which is usually the case when you can stay out of trouble and run the whole race. We led a lap during the pit stop cycles so we picked up five bonus points, which may help us at the end of the season. Overall, it was a decent finish at a track I'd never seen before the first practice there so I'm pretty happy with the result."

Testing Schedule: Foyt's team plans to test at Lowe's Motor Speedway outside of Charlotte May 7 and 8. It was at Lowe's Motor Speedway that Foyt ran his first ARCA race last October. That same weekend he announced his plans to run in the entire 2001 NASCAR Busch Series.
