EAST AND DONOSO
POST ONE-TWO FINISH FOR FOYT’S SILVER CROWN TEAM
AT IRP
BROWNSBURG, IN July 26, 2007—For the
second time this season, A.J. Foyt‘s team
finished one-two in the USAC Silver Crown Series
with Bobby East at the helm of the No. 14 car at
Indianapolis Raceway Park.
East won the J.D. Byrider 100--his second
victory of the season or Foyt--before his
hometown crowd driving the Greer/ABC Supply No.
14 Chevy. East started second, took the lead at
the start and was never headed. It was the
fourth victory of the season for the No. 14 with
Tracy Hines and J.J. Yeley also posting
victories this season.
"The car was awesome," said East after the race.
"After lap 60 I wasn't worried about saving
anything but the track became slippery and we
could barely run wide open in the late stages.
It feels good to have two wins this year and
it's always good to give A.J. a victory."
Teammate Pablo Donoso, of Santiago, Chile
started seventh and finished second in the No.11
ABC Supply/Greer Chevy, matching his best finish
of the season--the pavement series opener in
March at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Third through fifth at IRP's .686-mile oval
were: Tim Barber, Cameron Dodson, Mike Murgoitio.
The next race for the pavement series is
September 15th at New Hampshire International
Speedway in Loudon, N.H.
J.J. YELEY WINS
AT CHICAGOLAND IN ABC SUPPLY/GREER SPECIAL
JOLIET, Ill. July 13, 2007 – The number
13 proved lucky for J.J. Yeley who drove the
No.14 ABC Supply/Greer Special to victory in the
USG Fiberock 100 at Chicagoland Speedway on
Friday the 13th. It was Yeley’s 13th victory and
13th pole which he won with a speed of 174.842
mph.
Yeley was the third different driver to win
driving the No.14 car in the USAC Silver Crown
Series this season.
"It felt good to get the win for the team," said
Yeley, who led the entire 67-lap race around the
1.5-mile banked superspeedway. "I haven't won
for so long I kinda forgot what it was like. I
felt bad after the Darlington (S.C.) race in May
where we had such a good car and had a tire go
down. I didn't think they were gonna let me back
in the car. I told my wife I was running the
Silver Crown race today (Friday the 13th) and
she said be careful and only call her if I win.
So I still get to talk to my family."
Indeed, the Darlington event was the only race
that the No.14 didn’t win or finish in the top
three—Tracy Hines won the season opener at
Miami, Bobby East won the second race at Iowa
Speedway and he finished third at Richmond.
Pablo Donoso, who qualified fourth in the No. 11
ABC Supply Chevy, ran as high as second in the
race but suffered engine woes and dropped to
eighth.
Long-time friend and ex-Indy car driver George
Snider runs the USAC Silver Crown pavement
series program for A.J. Foyt. The No. 14 car is
currently second in the entrant point standings
despite missing the two dirt track events (which
require a different type car). The No. 11 car is
tied for seventh.
Foyt’s Silver
Crown Team Finishes in Top Five at Richmond
RICHMOND June 30, 2007—Bobby East and
Pablo Donoso finished third and fifth
respectively in the USAC Silver Crown 100-lap
feature at Richmond International Raceway
Saturday afternoon.
Driving the No. 11 ABC Supply/Greer Chevy,
Donoso, who had won the pole position at 127.914
mph, broke the rear end loose on the start and
slipped back to fourth. Donoso recovered and
maintained his position until about lap 30. He
closed in on third and had passed him in turn
one when the two tangled coming off turn two.
Donoso did a good job of keeping the car under
control but he wasn’t able to challenge for the
position again.
Eventually East, who had started eighth in the
No. 14 Greer Special/ABC Supply Chevy, marched
his way through the field into third. East
posted his second straight top three finish
driving for Foyt, having won his first race in
Iowa Speedway May 5th.
The Series moves to Chicagoland Speedway on July
13th. Donoso will drive the No.11 but the driver
of the No. 14 has not been confirmed.
PABLO DONOSO
WINS POLE FOR SILVER CROWN 100 AT RICHMOND
RICHMOND June 29, 2007—Pablo Donoso drove
A.J. Foyt’s No. 11 ABC Supply/Greer Special
Chevy at a speed of 127.914 mph to win the pole
position for the Silver Crown Series 100 lapper
at Richmond International Raceway. It was
Donoso’s first career pole position in his
second season in the open wheel series.
His Silver Crown Series teammate and open wheel
standout Bobby East will start eighth in the No.
14 Greer Special/ABC Supply Chevy, qualifying at
a speed of 124.195 mph. East won the pole in the
companion USAC Sprint Car Series earlier today.
East, of Brownsburg, IN, made his debut in the
series driving for Foyt at Iowa Speedway where
he won the race. Donoso had been running second
when an oil pump failure curtailed his race with
13 laps to go.
Donoso, of Santiago, Chile began driving for
Foyt this year. He is a protege of Eliseo
Salazar, also of Santiago, who drove for Foyt's
Indy car team for three years. Donoso's career
best finish is second which is where he finished
at Iowa last year and at Homestead-Miami this
year in his first race driving for Foyt. His
teammate Tracy Hines won the event. Donoso
finished third at Darlington last month.
The Silver Crown race will run Saturday evening
starting at 5:15 pm. For immediate results,

PABLO DONOSO
FINISHES THIRD AT DARLINGTON; J.J. YELEY CRASHES
WHILE LEADING
DARLINGTON, S.C. May 10, 2007--J.J. Yeley
won the pole in the No. 14 Greer Special at
Darlington Raceway Thursday afternoon with a
speed of 163.555mph, nearly a mile an hour
quicker than outside pole Aaron Pierce.
Yeley jumped out to a ten second lead when a
yellow came out for debris. On the restart,
Yeley bobbled due to what would be determined as
tire trouble and Donoso took the lead. Yeley,
regained control but then scraped the wall in
turn three and was out for the night.
Donoso led the next 14 laps until Aaron Pierce
dove beneath him and took the lead. Donoso ran a
close second while being dogged by Wayne
Reutimann Jr. With two laps to go, Donoso
challenged for the lead only to have Pierce slam
the door on him. As Donoso tried to recover,
Reutimann slid by on the outside dropping Donoso
to third.
Bud Kaeding and Matt Neely rounded out the top
five. The next scheduled pavement race for the
USAC Silver Crown Series is Saturday, June 30 at
Richmond (VA) International Raceway.
BOBBY EAST WINS
IN DEBUT PERFORMANCE IN A.J. FOYT’S NO. 14 GREER
SPECIAL
NEWTON, Iowa (May 5) – Bobby East, of
Brownsburg, Ind., won the Casey’s General Stores
100 from the pole in A.J. Foyt’s No. 14 Greer
Special Saturday afternoon in the USAC Silver
Crown Series second appearance at Iowa Speedway.
Pablo Donoso, in Foyt’s No. 11 car, nearly gave
the team its second straight one-two sweep but a
problem with the oil pump belt forced him out
with 13 laps to go. Aaron Pierce finished
second.
It was East’s first time in the new USAC Silver
Crown Series and his first time at Iowa
Speedway. East subbed for regular driver Tracy
Hines who was injured in a dirt-bike riding
accident near his home earlier this week. Hines
is expected to fully recover from his injuries
but it’s too early to tell when he will be back
in the No. 14. East was called to fill in for
the Iowa race. He led all but seven laps.
“Bobby did a real good job--he drove a smart
race,” said team manager George Snider,
adding.”Pablo drove a good race too; it’s too
bad he couldn’t be there at the finish.
“We got the car working pretty good after the
first practice,” said Snider. “I think the only
adjusting Bobby had to do for the car was for
the fuel load getting lighter as the race went
on.”
Apparently he didn’t have to do much of that as
he led all but seven laps of the race. The
experience wasn’t Snider’s first time working
with East.
“When Bobby was racing his Ford Focus midget at
the Speedrome [in Indianapolis], I used to take
him when his dad Bob couldn’t because he had to
be at a race somewhere else,” said Snider.
Snider, who drove for Foyt in 13 Indy 500s, is
running the Silver Crown program this year for
his longtime friend. So far the team is two for
two with Tracy Hines winning the season opener
at Homestead-Miami Speedway March 23rd.
Team owner Foyt was not at the race because he
was at the Kentucky Derby but co-owner Jim
Greer, of Houston, was in attendance. Greer, a
close friend of the family, partnered with Tony
Foyt to buy young A.J. his first midget in the
early 50s. Greer has been involved with Foyt’s
career on some level ever since.
The next USAC Silver Crown Series event is this
Thursday,May 10th at Darlington Speedway in
South Carolina. Snider has tapped veteran open
wheel competitor and current NASCAR Nextel Cup
driver J.J. Yeley to drive the No. 14 Greer
Special in that event because East will be busy
testing.
