Vitor Meira Meets
President of Brazil Along with Fellow
IndyCar Drivers
BRASILIA, BRAZIL (Feb. 4)--Vitor
Meira traveled with his fellow Brazilian
drivers to his hometown of Brasilia, Brazil
this week to meet with President Luiz Inacio
Lula da Silva, the president of Brazil, who
pledged his support for the São Paulo Indy
300 which will launch the 2010 IndyCar
Series season March 14th.
Joining Meira in the ceremonies were fellow
drivers Helio Castroneves, Tony Kanaan,
Mario Moraes, Raphael Matos, Ana Beatriz and
Mario Romancini. After congregating at Apex
Brasil where they met with executives of the
official ethanol provider to the IndyCar
Series, the drivers along with Terry
Angstadt, President/IRL Commercial Division,
went to Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil
where they met the president at 5pm Tuesday
afternoon.
On Wednesday, the IndyCar group traveled to
São Paulo where they met Mayor Gilberto
Kassab and saw firsthand the 2.6-mile, 11
turn street circuit that is under
construction. Meira returned from his
whirlwind trip early Thursday morning.
Hopefully he will get some rest having
traveled to southern Chile the week before
to compete in the world class triathlon!
