Job: Data Acquisition. On race day I help the engineer
with data analysis and fuel calculations. Sometimes I’m changing
tires.
What was your training? I went to a tech school that
prepared me for mechanical engineering.
Years with Foyt: I started at Indy three years ago. It
was pretty exciting.
What is your favorite thing about working here? Being
able to see your work translate into faster times and a faster
car.
When did you decide you wanted to race? I was pretty
young, I had worked as a mechanic at a shop. I knew I liked cars
but didn’t want to work on OEMs. I couldn’t think of anything
I’d like to do better. So at a pretty young age, I decided it’s
what I wanted to do.
Advice for future mechanics? The biggest thing regardless
of your experience…if it’s something you like, you have to put
in the time. You shouldn’t be held back by thinking it’s
something you can’t do.
What do you drive? A Monte Carlo.
Do you fix your own vehicle? Yup.
Describe your Perfect day: All the electronics are
functioning properly and it’s a quick car.
