Job: Transport driver, maintenance
Years with Foyt Racing: 10 years
Has A.J. ever yelled at you? Yeah! (he laughs) You learn
you’re not gonna win an argument, you just go with what the boss
says.
What do you do off the track? As in personal time? When
would that be? At home I fish and hunt. Here [at Indy], while
we’re off the track, sleep! We work 12 to 16 hours a day on days
the car runs. On days the car doesn’t run, normal 8 hour days.
What do you drive? Chevy pick up truck.
Do you fix it yourself? Yes.
Perfect day: To win the Indy 500, would be our perfect
day. Closest I’ve come is Kansas in 2003. We won both races that
weekend, the IPS Infiniti Car Race and the Indy Car race! (I was
working for A.J. at the shop when they won Indy in 1999). How
did you celebrate that night? By driving the stuff home and
getting ready for the next race. You get a little bit of thrill
for the moment and you go on.
