INDIANAPOLIS (October 3, 2024) -- A rare opportunity awaits motorsports fans and racing historians next Thursday evening!
A.J. Foyt will be signing copies of his new biography A.J. Foyt: Survivor, Champion, Legend (Vol. I) which is being launched this month by Octane Press. Art Garner, who penned the definitive biography on the motorsport icon, will also participate in the two-hour public event being held Thursday, Oct. 10th at the Foyt Wine Vault in Speedway, Ind.
A brief Q& A session hosted by Foyt's son Larry will kick off the program which runs from 6 to 8 p.m. ET. Attendees can purchase autographed books on site the night of the event. Autographs will be restricted solely to the Foyt biography due to the short amount of time allotted for signing.
Garner's critically acclaimed work is cited for its detailed depictions which provide important context for the era in which Foyt drove all types of cars, survived death-defying crashes, and set records still intact 30 years after his retirement.
The product of five years of in-depth research and well over a hundred interviews with Foyt's family, friends and foes, the 550-plus page book reveals the complexity of Foyt's dynamic personality fueled by his insatiable desire to win. Volume I chronicles his racing career from childhood through 1977, the year he became the first four-time winner of the Indy 500. Volume II is still being written.
With an engaging writing style and well over a hundred photographs (many rarely seen) Garner has crafted a book that will be hard to put down. The editors at Octane Press insured that the high quality of Garner's writing was reflected admirably on the printed page.
In addition to being sold at the event, the book is also available at ajfoytracing.com, octanepress.com and at the Foyt Family Wines Winery & Museum in Fredericksburg, Texas.
