FFW releases No. 104 in honor of the Indianapolis 500

SONOMA, Calif. – Wondering what to get that special dad for Father’s Day?

Today Foyt Family Wines releases its No. 104, a cabernet sauvignon to celebrate the 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500. For a race fan, who appreciates fine wines, No. 104 is the perfect gift.

Many of the traditions of the Indy 500 that made the Month of May special to the

Speedway Capital of the World changed due to the covid-19 pandemic but one tradition that didn’t change is the annual release of a Foyt Family Wine to commemorate the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

The bottle’s label features the race logo but this year the date was removed when the race was pushed back to August 23rd. The background for the logo is the yard of bricks and above it is a ghosted image of the start of a past Indy 500.

“We’ve created a cool tradition of celebrating the Indy 500 with these special wines,” said Larry Foyt, co-founder of Foyt Family Wines. “I hope everyone will enjoy this offering which no doubt pays tribute to a most unique and challenging Indy 500.”

Indeed, the tradition began with No. 100 released around the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 in 2016. The wine was warmly received with fans asking about No. 101 the following year. Fortunately, it was already in the works.

No. 104 is the fifth in the series of Foyt Family Wines celebrating the Indy 500.

“I’m very happy with this 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon vintage created by winemakers Tom Meadowcroft and Petar Kirilov,” said Christopher Perry, the managing partner of Foyt Family Wines. “The wine is a blend of fruit from some of the best Cabernet growing regions in Napa Valley. A touch of Petite Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, and Malbec balance the rich dark fruit and massive tannins. The blended varietals add vibrancy to the wine’s lush mouthfeel showing a lingering dry finish and balanced acidity. Enjoy this wine now or lay it down until the 114th Running of the Indy 500!”

The wine is available for purchase on FoytWines.com.
